Safety-Code 6: Employee Safety in RF Emissions Testing

Radiofrequency (RF) emissions testing & Safety-Code 6 compliance are crucial operational necessities to building and maintaining our wireless communication systems. To ensure our RF testers are equipped with the knowledge and training required to tackle problems in the field and navigate potential hazards related to RF testing, COMsolve takes the following steps to ensure the health and safety of our employees: 1. Training and Education

A cornerstone of our RF safety program is the comprehensive in-house RF awareness training provided to all COMsolve employees. This training equips our employees with essential knowledge about RF field hazards, understanding RF emitters, and adopting the proper safety precautions when working around RF equipment. Testers are trained to recognize and adhere to SC-6 standards, ensuring a solid foundation for safe practices.

2. Pre-Entry Protocols

Before entering any RF testing site, our RF testers must demonstrate completion of our RF safety course. This ensures that each team member is equipped with the necessary knowledge to recognize potential hazards and mitigate risks effectively. Additionally, workers review the most recent SC-6 testing results pertinent to the site they are entering, ensuring alignment with current safety standards.

3. On-Site Safety Audits

Upon arrival at a testing site, COMsolve RF testers will conduct a thorough safety audit. This includes:

- Powering off all RF emitters (antennas, microwaves) to eliminate active RF radiation.

- Verifying that RF emitters are positioned at appropriate heights (typically 2.5-3 meters) above head level to minimize direct exposure.

- Inspecting all cabling for damage and ensuring proper termination to prevent RF leakage.

4. Continuous Monitoring and Response

Throughout their work, our testers are equipped with personal RF field monitors. These monitors continuously assess and monitor RF exposure levels, providing real-time feedback. Clear protocols are established for responding to monitor alarms, with immediate evacuation mandated if unsafe exposure levels are detected. Any alarms trigger an escalation process managed by our dedicated health and safety representative.

5. Compliance and Documentation

We always prioritize compliance with SC-6 standards and other relevant regulatory requirements. All safety protocols and procedures are meticulously documented, including audit findings, monitoring results, and incident reports. This documentation not only ensures regulatory compliance but also facilitates continuous improvement of our safety practices.

6. Commitment to Ongoing Improvement

We recognize that safety is a continuous journey, and thus COMsolve regularly reviews and updates our safety protocols and training materials to reflect advancements in technology and changes in industry regulations. This proactive approach allows us to adapt swiftly to emerging challenges and further enhance the safety of our RF emissions testing, and SC-6 auditing services.

At COMsolve, the safety of our employees is non-negotiable. By prioritizing comprehensive training, rigorous protocols, and continuous improvement, we ensure that our RF testers operate in a safe and compliant manner, eliminating risks associated with RF emissions testing. Our commitment to safety extends beyond compliance—it is embedded in everything we do to deliver exceptional service while safeguarding our most valuable asset: our people.
